Director of Investment Facilitation Visits Production Factories of Herat
On July 15, 2026, Mawlavi Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid, Director of Investment Facilitation at the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, visited several iron smelting factories in Herat Province, including Wadan Steel, Kabul Polad, and Afghan Polad, as well as a battery manufacturing factory. During the visit, he received information about their operations and production processes.
Mawlavi Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid praised the economic activities of these factories and described investors and industrialists as the country's economic driving force. He stated that he would do his utmost to help resolve their challenges, affirmed his readiness to serve industrialists and investors, and stressed that no effort would be spared in supporting them.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Tahir Sahabi, one of the officials of Wadan Steel, provided information about the factory's operations and said that it was established with an investment of US$40 million. He added that the factory produces between 350 and 400 tons of steel bars daily and provides direct employment for 350 people and indirect employment for 700 others.
During the visit, Haji Esmatullah Wardak, an official of Kabul Polad, said that the factory initially began operations with an investment of US$8 million, which has now increased to US$25 million. According to him, the factory provides employment for 500 people and produces 600 tons of steel bars daily.
It is worth mentioning that the delegation also visited the battery manufacturing factory and Afghan Polad to observe their operations and production processes.
