Khairkhwa Commercial Market in Kabul Inaugurated in a Special Ceremony
On February 11, 2025, Khairkhwa Commercial Market in Kabul City, the construction of which began under a public-private partnership, was officially inaugurated in a special ceremony. The ceremony, held at the Khairkhwa Commercial Market, was attended by Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs; Mullah Abdul Wasi Khadem, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office; Cabinet members; Mawlavi Saifuddin Taieb, Deputy Director General for Coordination of Emirate Affairs; Mawlavi Mahmood Shah Zahid, Deputy Director General for Financial and Administrative Affairs; Mawlavi Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid, Director of Investment Facilitation; as well as various other directors from the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs and investors.
During the ceremony, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi emphasized that economic strengthening is the foundation of a country’s development. He further stated that the Islamic Emirate is committed to making Afghanistan compete with the countries of the region and the world in the economic and various other sectors.
Mawlavi Saifuddin Taieb, Deputy Director General for Coordination of Emirate Affairs, stated that the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs is committed to serving the nation in all aspects and contributing to the country's development with the support of the private sector.
Speaking at the event, Mullah Abdul Wasi Khadem noted that since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, the country has enjoyed peace and security, creating a favorable environment for investment. He urged both domestic and international investors to take advantage of this opportunity and invest in Afghanistan.
Mawlavi Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid, Director of Investment Facilitation, provided detailed information about the project. He stated that it is a moment of pride that the affairs of a national project at an Asian level have been completed and made ready for use. He also encouraged investors to invest in Afghanistan, assuring them of the full support of the Islamic Emirate.
Additionally, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Finance, and other officials expressed their support for the private sector. They emphasized that Afghanistan is a shared home for all, and collective efforts are essential for its progress.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Mukhtar Sharifi, Chairman of Khairkhwa Commercial Market, expressed gratitude to the Islamic Emirate for its support and cooperation in the market’s construction. He acknowledged the responsible and sincere collaboration of all relevant agencies and urged investors to contribute to Afghanistan’s economic growth.
The Khairkhwa Commercial Market, built on approximately 10,000 square meters of Emirate-owned land, was completed under a public-private partnership agreement facilitated by the Investment Facilitation Directorate of the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs at a cost of $33 million.
The market consists of nine floors, with the first two floors designated for underground parking, five floors allocated for shops, and the top two floors reserved for offices. In total, it comprises approximately 1,200 shops and office spaces. During the construction and operational phases, thousands of people were provided with direct and indirect employment opportunities.
The ceremony, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, concluded with a prayer for goodwill.
