Director General for Coordination of Municipal Affairs Meets with UN-Habitat Leadership
On October 31, 2024, Mawlavi Mohammad Ishaq Akhundzada, Director General for Coordination of Municipal Affairs at the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, met with Stephanie, a leader from UN-Habitat, to discuss the implementation of civil service projects across various provinces.
The meeting took place at the General Directorate for Coordination of Municipal Affairs, where Director General Akhundzada welcomed the UN-Habitat delegation. He emphasized that the country has suffered greatly from years of conflict, leaving many communities deprived of essential life facilities.
Mr. Akhundzada shared observations from his visits to different provinces, noting issues such as access to clean water, healthcare, roads, retaining walls, and schools. He requested for necessary support and collaboration to address these needs.
In response, the UN-Habitat representative acknowledged the improved security in Afghanistan and expressed eagerness to share expertise and resources. She affirmed UN-Habitat's commitment to assist with the issues highlighted by Mr. Akhundzada during his provincial visits. She also provided updates on completed projects in several provinces and outlined plans for upcoming initiatives that will be launched in the near future.
