The contract to install electronic scanners in the country's customs, worth 8 billion Afghanis, has been signed

On July 27, 2024, a ceremony was held to mark the signing of a contract worth 8 billion Afghanis for the installation of electronic scanners in the country's customs ports. The event was attended by Al-Haj Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, as well as Sheikh-Al-Hadith Mawlavi Noorul Haq Anwar, Director General of Administrative Affairs, Deputies of the Finance Ministry, Directors of General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, and representatives from the contracting company.
During the ceremony, Engineer Mawlavi Ahmad Zia Khalid, Director of Investment Facilitation of the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, provided details about the project, emphasizing that the installation of electronic scanners would bring transparency to the country's import and export processes. He also mentioned that the project would help prevent tax evasion and increase the country's revenue.
Sultan Mohammad Zubair, Deputy Policy Minister of Finance, also spoke at the event, highlighting that the installation of electronic scanners would help combat the smuggling of prohibited substances in the country.
It is worth mentioning that the contract for the installation of electronic scanners in the country’s customs ports, worth 8 billion Afghanis for 13 years was signed between the Ministry of Finance and a private company named Zubair Musawer.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and concluded with a prayer for goodwill.
