Electronic gates (tollgate) are to be installed at the entrances of Kabul for transparency in revenue collection


Dec 6th, 2023- The Director of Investment Facilitation of the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid, said at the coordination meeting with the relevant agencies about the installation of electronic gates at the entrances of Kabul that there is a need for transparency in revenue collection therefore, the entrance gates to Kabul should be built according to international standards and the needs of the relevant departments should be taken into consideration.

This meeting was held between the representatives of the Investment Facilitation Directorate, ministries of Transport and Aviation, Public Works, Finance, Agriculture, Urban Development and Housing, Mines and Petroleum, Kabul Municipality, The Bank of Afghanistan, and General Directorate of Intelligence, in which the initial plan of the electronic gate of the eastern port in Pul-e-Charkhi area was discussed.

The representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Aviation said at this meeting that a private company has allocated about 112 million Afghanis for the construction of the electronic gate of Pul-e-Charkhi, which can have the capability of scanning over 1200 cars in an hour.

Similarly, the representatives of the relevant agencies shared their thoughts about the development of the said plan and supported the decision of installing electronic gates.

At the end of the meeting, the Investment Facilitation Director decided to share the said plan with the relevant agencies after its comprehensive evaluation and a decision will be reached regarding its finalization in the next meeting.
