The officials of the General Directorate of Municipalities met with the representatives of UNOPS

Today, Sept 5th, 2023- the officials of the General Directorate of Municipalities held an introductory meeting with the representatives of UNOPS and discussed various issues of interests.

This meeting, which was chaired by Mufti Muhammad Yaqoob Sharafat, director of the General Directorate of Municipalities, commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran, after which an official of this institution, Najibullah Amiri, provided information to the participants about the activities of UNOPS.

According to Mr. Amiri, based on an agreement with the General Directorate of Municipalities, Ministry of Economy and Kabul Municipality, apart from Kabul, this institution is operating in 7 other provinces.

Mr. Amiri said that 355 projects were started in these 7 provinces, of which 77 have been completed so far, 111 are being implemented, 76 are in the procurement phase and the design work of 91 more projects is underway.

Mr. Amiri added these projects will continue from May 2022 to April 2024, and in case of success, the activities of the institution will be extended to other provinces.

Officials of the General Directorate of Municipalities expressed their support for UNOPS in this meeting and asked UNOPS to share their activities report with them and also pay attention to backward provinces.
