IEA takes practical steps instead of promises; says Cultural and Social affairs director.
Mawlavi Muhammad Ishaq Akhunzada, director of the Cultural and Social affairs of the General Directorate of the Administrative affairs, met with the representatives of the Afghanistan Publishers Union and listened to their problems.
This meeting was held at the conference hall of the General Directorate of the administrative affairs on Tuesday, 30th of May.The meeting commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran and then the deputy director of cultural and social affairs, Noor Muhammad Haidari provided information to the participants about the activities of this department.
Later, the head of the Afghanistan Publishers Union, Ustad Seyed Ahmed Saeed, addressed the challenges of the publishers in the country and asked for a solution from the Islamic Emirate.
Mr. Seyed pointed out the main problems of publishing societies which are the issuance of license to the publishing societies, increase in taxes, unavailability of suitable market for selling books, printing of books outside Afghanistan, etc.. and has requested Islamic Emirate to solve their problems.
Moreover, the representatives of the Publishers Union asked Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to make it mandatory to establish public libraries in all districts, governments and private schools, so that the books can reach every individual of the country and to strengthen the culture of study.
In the meeting, the cultural and social director, Mawlavi Muhammad Ishaq Akhudnzada, praised the services of the representatives of Publishers Union and added that their problems will soon be solved.
In this meeting, Mawlavi Ishaq Akhunzada also mentioned the opening of a public library in the Kulula Pushta historical fort and added that IEA takes practical steps instead of promises and works to solve the problems of its people.
The union of Afghanistan Publishers' Association was founded a few years ago. It has 180 publishing unions across Afghanistan and approximately 500 bookstores are members of it. This union runs their activities through a specific procedure.
The meeting ended with a prayer for goodwill.
