National Procurement Director Holds Talks with Iranian Ambassador on Expanding Economic Cooperation

On August 4, 2026, Mawlavi Abdul Baqi Mansour, Director of the National Procurement Directorate at the General Directorate of Administrative Affairs, and the directorate's technical deputy met with Alireza Bigdali, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, discussions were held on expanding commercial relations between the two countries, investment opportunities in Afghanistan, the participation of Iranian companies in national projects, the import of petroleum products in accordance with international standards, and expanding cooperation in petroleum extraction and refining.

Welcoming Mr. Bigdali and his accompanying delegation, Mawlavi Abdul Baqi Mansour said that a favorable opportunity has now emerged to further expand economic and commercial relations between the two countries, increase the volume of trade, and utilize shared economic benefits for the progress and prosperity of Islamic countries.

He encouraged the Iranian side to have Iranian companies play an active role in investing and implementing national projects in Afghanistan. In response, the Iranian ambassador pledged cooperation in the areas of investment, technology, technical cooperation, and human capacity building.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Iranian ambassador invited the National Procurement Director to pay an official visit to Iran to hold direct discussions with petroleum companies and relevant officials on expanding investment and economic cooperation.
