Director General of Administrative Affairs: Knowledge Leads Humans to Life’s True Purpose

On December 21, 2024, Sheikh-Al-Hadith Mawlavi Noorul Haq Anwar, the Director General of Administrative Affairs, stated during the graduation ceremony of Jihadi Madrasa graduates in Maidan Wardak Province that Knowledge facilitates the journey for humans to achieve the true purpose of life. He added that Allah Almighty, in the first verse of the Holy Qur'an, commanded humans to seek knowledge to better understand Him and the true purpose of life.

The ceremony, held at Ghazi Stadium in Maidan Wardak Province, was attended by dignitaries, including the Director General, the Governor of Maidan Wardak, officials from the Ministries of Education and Public Works, representatives of the Kabul Jihadi Madrasa, religious scholars, tribal elders, and local residents.

In his address, Sheikh-Al-Hadith Mawlavi Noorul Haq Anwar stressed that those connected with knowledge are granted wisdom and blessings, and Allah Almighty, after creating humans, commanded them to acquire knowledge to effectively manage both worldly and hereafter matters.

Speaking to the graduates, he said: " You have now entered a new phase of life and responsibility and the turban placed upon your heads by your teachers signifies your readiness to take on new responsibilities, such as leading prayers (Imamat), delivering sermons (Khutba), teaching (Tadris), issuing fatwas (Iftaa), inviting others to the right path (Dawat), adjudicating (Qadha) and more. With effort and determination, you can serve better in these areas."

The Director General of Administrative Affairs also stated that Afghanistan has been an Islamic country for centuries, but many harmful traditions and practices have replaced Islamic rulings and blessed prophetic actions. These practices have hindered the implementation of numerous Islamic jurisprudential rulings. Extravagant and harmful traditions dominate much of Afghan society, making it difficult for individuals to abandon them alone. Therefore, the leadership of the Islamic Emirate, out of its kindness, has instructed relevant Emirate agencies and religious scholars to develop a framework for implementing effective measures to prevent harmful customs in society.
He mentioned that one of the most damaging customs is the high dowry (Mahr), along with many other marriage and celebration-related traditions that go against the essence of Islamic marriage (Nikah) and weddings. These customs, besides causing moral and social corruption, lead to economic hardships, force young people to migrate abroad, and result in distress for many families.

The ceremony concluded with speeches by other officials on the value of knowledge and the responsibilities of scholars, followed by a collective prayer for goodwill.
