Eighth Cabinet Meeting; Discussions Held on Determining Railway Gauge and Accelerating Land Distribution Process for Refugees

October 20, 2025, the eighth cabinet meeting of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was held under the chairmanship of Al-Haj Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister of IEA.

The meeting began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by discussions and decisions on key economic, social, and cultural issues of the country.

During the session, the delegation’s report regarding the determination of the gauge (width) of the New Afghan Trans railway line from Hairaatan to Spin Boldak was approved. It was decided that the gauge should be set at 1520 mm, while also taking into consideration the 1435 mm gauge.

Furthermore, it was decided that the Head of the High Commission for Refugees, Mawlavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, should summon the refugee committees and conduct a comprehensive review of their activities to accelerate the land distribution process and ensure that eligible individuals receive land as soon as possible. Likewise, all obstacles that have delayed the process in some areas should be identified.

It is worth mentioning that the cabinet meeting concluded with a prayer for goodwill, following detailed discussions and resolutions on several issues.
