Director of Investment Facilitation Visits Chita Food Production and Payman Factories
On December 16, 2024, Mawlavi Engineer Ahmad Zia Khalid, Director of the Investment Facilitation Directorate of Administrative Affairs, continued his visits with a tour of the Chita domestic food production factory and the Payman Ice Cream factory.
During the visit, the Director of Investment Facilitation emphasized that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan supports the private sector and the country's industrialists, and that efforts are underway to address the challenges faced by investors. He also highlighted that, in accordance with the directive of the esteemed Amirul Momineen Hafidzahullahu Ta'ala, industrial parks will soon be established across the country to benefit industrialists.
Dawood Khan, the technical official of the Chita factory, shared information about the factory's operations, stating that it currently employs 200 people directly. The factory has the capacity to produce 30,000 cartons of food items such as chips, popcorn, and Slanty snacks within 24 hours.
Mr. Khalid also toured the Payman Ice Cream factory, where 400 people are directly employed, and 10,000 individuals are indirectly engaged during the ice cream production season.
The factory officials urged investors to focus on domestic production of cellophane (special packaging for chips and ice cream) to reduce dependency on imports from neighboring countries. They also pointed out that high tariffs on raw materials such as milk and cheese powder remain significant challenges.
