Director General of Administrative Affairs: Afghanistan to Become Self-Sufficient in Cement Sector in Coming Years


On April 27, 2026, a ceremony marking the commencement of practical work on the Jawzjan Yateem Taq Cement Factory was held with the participation of Director General of Administrative Affairs Sheikh al-Hadith Mawlavi Noorul Haq Anwar; Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar; Minister of Mines and Petroleum Mullah Hedayatullah Badri; and governors of the northern zone.

Addressing the ceremony, Director General of Administrative Affairs stated that with the establishment of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, factories that had previously ceased operations due to internal wars and negligence of some governments have been restored, their quality has been improved, and they are now being utilized in infrastructure, construction, and development sectors of the country.

Sheikh al-Hadith Mawlavi Noorul Haq Anwar highlighted these achievements and progress as a result of effective coordination among officials of Islamic Emirate, unified leadership, and presence of committed and responsible investors contributing to the country’s growth, noting that this process will further strengthen the economy.

Director General of Administrative Affairs also referred to Kandahar and Jabal Siraj cement factories, stating that work on them is actively underway and they will soon become operational. He added that this will enable the country to achieve self-sufficiency in cement sector in coming years.

It is worth mentioning that practical work on construction of Yateem Taq Cement Factory will commence with an investment of 160 million US dollars. The factory will have capacity to produce 3,000 tons of cement per day and will provide direct and indirect employment opportunities for 5,000 people.

The ceremony, which began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, concluded with a prayer for goodwill.
